Meet Deborshi…

I started in 2009 as a tax associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers assisting US and Canadian clients with their personal filing compliance. In 2014, I joined Expat US Tax in the India office and continued to build my expertise in the same line of service specializing in cross-border tax implications.

In 2022, I moved to the Dubai office and being more involved in providing consultation services to our prospective clients worldwide.

Do US citizens living in India still have to file a US tax return?

Yes, they do. If you are an American citizen or Green Card holder living in India, you are still required to file a US tax return. 

Living outside of the United States does not remove your obligation to report your worldwide income to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
